Bloomington, IL – The Illinois Coaches Association and the Shriners of Illinois have selected Tucci Stadium on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University for the 2012 Illinois High School Shrine Game. Kick-off of the 38th annual game is scheduled for Saturday, July 14 at 6:30 p.m. The game originated in Bloomington in 1975 and was later moved to Peoria Public Schools Stadium. Eighty-eight (88) of the state’s best football players participate in this all-star game to raise money for Shriners Hospitals for Children, the official philanthropy of Shriners International. Representatives from the Illinois Coaches Association and the five (5) Shrine Temples in Illinois [Mohammed (Peoria), Medinah (Chicago), Tebala (Rockford), Ansar (Springfield), and Ainad (East St. Louis)] have partnered to bring back and better showcase the event in Bloomington utilizing the newly renovated facilities on IWU’s campus. The goal is to generate more excitement , better awareness of the Shrine’s mission amongst the young men, and help make this a Signature Event for the Shriners of Illinois.
